Photo a Day Challenge: DAY 3

DAY 3: Something you adore
A charm my grandmother gave me when I was little.  Never saw anything like it before, the angel's wings have hinges so they open and close and the legs also swing back and forth.  The background I used for this photo is the inside of a large sea shell she also bought me years later in Cape May, NJ.  These are a few of my favorite treasures!

Photo a Day Challenge

Today I was surfing around one of my favorite sites Pinterest for some daily inspiration and stumbled upon a great "Photo a Day Challenge" which was originally posted by fat mum slim blog.  After getting over my initial excitement for the challenge I browsed her blog and she is a cool Aussie mom that loves photography, fashion, and cooking--my type of lady and worth checking out!

Here is the challenge!

Now, I am a day late for the challenge--but I hope you won't mind me try and catch up on the first photo: YOU...

second photo: BREAKFAST
This morning I made Sean and I some fresh juice and PB&J. After prepping the fruit I thought it was so pretty I had to take a picture of it!

pieces of me

When we were young my grandma made all her granddaughters dresses and as we got older a lot of those same fabrics found their way into the quilts she made. Looking at the quilts she has made us is like looking at a scrapbook of blouses she use to wear to work, dresses she made us for Easter, or our birthdays!

Nothing feels as soft and cuddly as one of Grandma's quilts. Any store bought quilt has never felt like something I wanted to wrap myself in! I recently said this to her and she said, "Well, Jennifer a piece of you goes into every quilt you make. Whether its the oils from your skin or a prick from a needle!" She laughed and sighed—It was then that I knew it was time for me to learn.

Make sure to press your fabric before beginning to work with it.

Grandma always tells the best stories...
Always cut along the straight when quilting.

Pairing up designs that coordinate to larger squares made up of 4 smaller squares.

When you have all your squares pile repeating squares to keep things neat.

Secure piles before stitching squares.

In 2 weeks we will stitch our squares.

brand identity

My parents started their bakery in October of 2009 --A Crafty Baker

They make custom cakes, cupcakes, mini cakes, and chocolate boxes.  My mom is the baker and my dad is the decorator--they have a lot of fun working together to make great cakes that look good and taste even better!

This was the inspiration for their logo that I designed for A Crafty Baker.
